E61 Heating Up (and podcasts)
I’ve been completely getting into the whole podcasting “phenomenon” a few years too late. I’ve had my ipod nano for over a year now (and the iRiver ihp120 before that) and I never really got podcasting until now.
With the E61 I find it very convenient that I can just set it to update daily at 7 in the morning, and it connects automatically to the wi-fi access point at home and download any new podcasts. When I open my E61 podcasting app, it just sits there, waiting for me to plug it in to the car stereo and laugh with Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht on diggnation; or enjoying a recap analysis of the latest episode of Veronica Mars via the Neptune Pirate Radio, or learn something new with various photography or science related podcast.
I really find it enjoyable, simple and convenient, listening to podcasts to my E61, so much so that my 1 giger is filled up. I deleted all my music and videos and transferred those to my trusty ipod, and left the 1 gig exclusively for podcasts. And I’m now feeling the lack of space. I might be upgrading to a 2 gig mini-sd card in the near future.
I just notice something, first with Symtorrent, and now with Podcasting. With the wi-fi on and and the E61 downloading stuff, the battery is quickly drained. So I do the logical thing and keep the phone plugged in while downloading updates, but the back plate gets warm. And it gets warmed alot. I just want to know if this is normal. Any of you guys experience this? Normal charging doesn’t warm up the phone, but the wifi-download-charge combo seems to, and I just worry that it’s frying up my battery or worse.

I have the same issue, whilst listening to any streaming audio and charging. I’ve not been too concerned (but perhaps I should be).
Keeps my hands warm on the cold winter evenings.
Sounds like we have the same setup - iPod for music, E61 for podcasts. I update daily as well (while charging overnight) so they’re ready to go in the morning, and I listen to them while in the shower!
Tip: I don’t use the Podcasting application to play them back …. instead I access them through Gallery. That way I get to use the EQ function and boost the overall volume. Now if only the E61 supported bookmarking, or at least remembered where you left off if you close the podcast.
I also notice same thing when i use my trustworthy 6630 as modem for long duration. When it is on modem + charging-it’ll heat up in 2 to 3 hours time.So this seems like old issue for nokia phones.I fear it might be frying the battery along with phone’s circuits.Where is solution for this nokia?Even latest phones have this problem.?What to do?
