Popularity of E61 in Singapore
I don’t think it is. I went through some mobile phone shops and I didn’t see it on display. I hunted for some accessories that I can bring home and I couldn’t find any. I really wanted to retire my silicone case with something nicer (maybe an affordable leather case) but I found none.
One good thing about the E61 in airports is that it doesn’t look like a standard mobile, so I can get away with watching movies or listening to my music in the airplane without hassles from the flight attendants. Of course, it’s on offline mode, but with my old Motorola E398, even in flight mode, the stewardesses wouldn’t believe that it is, hehehe.
It’s 0530AM and my flight is in 0730. I’m still sleepy!

For me it’s also HARD if not impossible to get accesories for my e61, I live in central america and our current phone providers have not made the e62 available for us. I’ve yet to meet another e61/e62 user down here, most people go for the flashy moto/sony stuff.
Hi from an E61 owner here in Singapore. Not that hard to get it here - it certainly isn’t displayed as prominently as the N80 or RAZR or other ‘normal sized’ phones. I guess the E61 is still seen as a business focused niche phone. However, it’s quite easily available. I bought mine a month ago for S$358 (around USD 225) when I signed up for an extended 2 year contract AND traded in my old K700i.
Haven’t seeen many accessories/cases for this, though the el cheapo ‘made in China’ silicone and crystal cases are aplenty.
In Pakistan too E 61 is not too popular even all E series are not considered due to their lact of flashy image , very few accessories and no resale value , now N its hot here but I love my E61
I have lived in Singapore for a couple of months last year. It seems that business-type phones, like E61/E62, are not so popular there (at least that was my conclusion after commuting with MRT everyday). The situation may change now, but according to your obeservation, it is still the case.
About stewardess, that is an interesting point. I had similar problem. I told the stewardess that this phone is in offline mode. But still she asked me to switch off the phone. Well…
Hi there
A E61 owner from Singapore here. I am still a student so I guess I was not targeting too much of the business features of the E61 when I bought it. Apparently it wasn’t really hard to get here. You probably just need to ask for it. (My set was hiding behind some N-Series boxes in the shop).
There’s not as much people attracted to the E61 compared to the N-Series in Singapore as most people want phones with camera. Before I have the E61 I was using the N-gage QD, so maybe that was why I could live with mobile phones without a camera.
The factors that attracted me to get this phone were the battery life, WIFI, screen and qwerty keyboard. So far I had only used it for music, watching videos and playing games on it. But I think I would need to use the office programs soon for finishing up last minute assignments in class when school starts. : P
Overall, I think that it would be difficult for a lot of people to be attracted to the E61 as there are the problems of not having a camera and the phone’s big size. (At least it’s slim)
Oh right, great blog keep up the good work
