Screenshot works!!!

Antony Pranata’s Screenshot is a godsend for bloggers. It’s one of those little programs for the Series 60 that reliably delivers on what it intends to do, which is to take a screen capture of what’s currently being displayed on your mobile phone. Screenshot virtually provides for every single image in this blog (except for the other photos which the Nikon D50 supplies).

After I got my firmware upgraded last friday, I immediately loaded Screenshot; and to my horror, it doesn’t work. I clicked and clicked and clicked, and nothing happend. Gah! My blog will be devoid of images!!! That was the thought that entered my mind.

A few days later, with more and more people having their firmwares updated, I got tons of different feedback — screenshot works, screenshot doesn’t work, screenshot works only if you lightly press the OK button, some people even said click the blue button + shift + ok. So I fiddled and played and tinkered with the E61 until I got it to work.

My proof? A screenshot with the firmware.

So how did I do it? Simple! Too simple that I felt insanely stupid to not have thought about it earlier.

  • Load up Screenshot. Enter the options menu to configure your trigger key (either shift+ok, or shift+*; OK is click the joystick)

  • What I did wrong before was leave it at that. You need to go back to the first screen before leaving screenshot. (The image below should be the image on your screen before you click the MENU key)

After that, just trigger away. My shortcut key of choice is Shift + OK, and it now works every single time. I don’t know if I was the only one who had problems, but at least now I got my most used program to work.

Thanks for the tip. I am just about to borrow Nokia E61 to test my software in the latest firmware. It’s good to know that it works now… :)
Btw, you have a little mistake in spelling my name. It should be “Antony Pranata” (no “h” between “t” and “o”). No worry, many people always spell it incorrectly.

Oops, my bad! :) I’ll edit the post. Cool software!

[…] I have been receiving some emails from the users of my freeware, Screenshot for Symbian OS (for S60 3rd Edition). They said the shortcut does not work any more in the latest firmware of Nokia E61. The main shortcut, Edit+OK works after some tweaking. Read agwe23’s post in his blog, Screenshot works!!!. The second shortcut, Edit+*, seems do not work at all. […]
